Good question, isn’t it?
The other day I did some work for a lady in Blacksburg who was moving out and needed the carpet cleaned professionally. I spent most of the day there, getting it looking like it should, and they were REALLY happy and impressed when I left. So then, as I’m pulling up to the babysitter’s to get my son…my phone rings, and it’s HER. She had been carrying a box outside when the bottom broke on it, and jar of pizza sauce went EVERYWHERE!
So I talked with my babysitter, who was fine with keeping an eye on my son for awhile longer, and went back out to this client’s home. When I got there, they’d cleaned up everything, and made the mistake of scrubbing with a towel. Never SCRUB a spot, just blot it…but I digress. What happened was the spot had gotten spread out a little bit by the scrubbing.
So I set up, flushed it out with water really good to remove most of it, but water wasn’t cutting it for everything. There was still a bit left:
I hit it with a protein spotter, and after a bit of scrubbing and rinsing, it all looked as good as new!
So, and this COULD be the most important thing you take away from this article…as I finished and was packing up, my client tried to pay me for coming back out. I told her that if she looked at my website, she’d find mention of what my “Spot and Spill Warranty” does, and for one full year after my cleaning the carpet, anything was covered (except pet problems) should something happen. That’s right…it didn’t cost her a THING. She was particularly happy to hear this!
